I haven’t been super active online lately, and that’s because I’ve been hard at work on a couple of new films for Our State. One of them premieres tonight at 9 on UNC-TV, and will be available online immediately following the broadcast! “One Moment, One Meeting” profiles traditional Japanese tea gatherings at Duke Gardens’ Culberson Asiatic Arboretum in Durham. The title is an English translation of the Japanese phrase “ichi-go, ichi-e,” the belief that even the smallest moment in time is unique and important, deserving our fullest commitment. Every detail of a tea gathering embraces this phrase with its beauty, making this documentary a pleasure to produce. The UNC-TV crew and I shot the film over the spring, summer, and fall of 2015, so it became clear that the tea house at Duke Gardens was a lovely setting in every season.
To everyone involved in the project, thanks for making this film a beautiful reality!
